22nd ANNUAL MAD POETS FESTIVALAND CITYTEAM MINISTRIES FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER

The 22nd Annual Mad Poets Poetry Festival will be held in conjunction with the Media Food & Arts Festival, on Sunday, October 4, 2009, from noon to five, in the Mansion Parlor at the Media Borough Hall, Third and Jackson Streets in Media.

In addition, due to the severe drop in local food banks due to the budget crisis, John Clifford, Food Service Supervisor of CityTeam Ministries in Chester, will be there, dishing up warm and delicious chicken chili for a minimum of $1.00 a cup, and all donations benefit CityTeam Ministries and are 100% tax-deductible.  Bring a non-perishable food item and/or canned good(s) for the food drive as your “ticket” for admission to the Mad Poets Festival. CityTeam helps the poor and disadvantaged throughout the Delaware Valley by providing hot meals, safe shelter, decent clothing and recovery programs.

Poetry readings, some with musical accompaniment, will begin at noon and end at 5 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served. This year's event features approximately forty locally and nationally known poets will read from original work and offer “food for thought”.  Some of the featured poets include Alison Hicks, Leonard Gontarek, Amy Laub, Steve Delia, Missy Grotz, Emiliano Martin and Ed Krizek, among many other talented local poets.

The Mad Poets Festival will offer a variety of original poetry from some of the finest poets in the area.  No admission will be charged. The event is sponsored by the Mad Poets Society and the Media Recreation Commission.    For further information on this festival: Call Eileen D'Angelo, 610-586-9318, or email: eileendangelo@comcast.net.
