The Manayunk Art Center presents poet John Amen, six Rosemont College MFA writers: Blythe Davenport, Eric McKinley, Maureen McVeigh, Jennifer Lee, Jennifer Miller and Sarah Rose, as well as an Outside Open Poetry Reading on Sunday, May 3, from 3:00 to 6:00pm. The readings are free but a $4 donation is requested. Light refreshments will be available.

Bios of Those Performing:
John Amen edits the award-winning bimonthly, The Pedestal Magazine (www.thepedestalmagazine.com). John is the author of two books of poetry: Christening the Dancer (Ucelli Press 2003) and More of Me Disappears (Cross Cultural Communications 2005). His new collection, At the Threshold of Alchemy, will be coming out soon from Presa. He has also released two folk/rock CD's: All I'll Ever Need (2004) and Ridiculous Empire (2008), nboth released by Cool Midget. John Amen is also an artist working primarily with acrylics. Blythe Davenport graduated from Rosemont College in May 2008 with a MFA in Creative Writing. Her poetry has appeared in the Mad Poets Review, Grasslimb Journal, Chronogram Magazine, and is forthcoming in the Painted Bride Quarterly. Blythe, who has lived throughout the United States, as well as abroad, resides in Philadelphia.
Sarah Rose Etter earned a BA in English and Publishing from Penn State University and is currently working towards an MFA at Rosemont College. Her work has appeared in numerous publications such as, The Menda City Review, Bartleby Snopes Literary Magazine, and Trespass Magazine. She loves T.S. Eliot and dive bars. She hates semicolons.
J.C. Lee holds an AA in Art and a BA in English Literature from Holy Family University in Philadelphia. She is pursuing an MA in English Literature at Rosemont College and received an MFA in Creative Writing from the same institution. Her short story, “Butterflies and Toiletbowls” appeared in three online journals and won first runner up in the Philadelphia Citypaper Writing Contest in 2007.
J.C. Lee holds an AA in Art and a BA in English Literature from Holy Family University in Philadelphia. She is pursuing an MA in English Literature at Rosemont College and received an MFA in Creative Writing from the same institution. Eric McKinley is from Philadelphia. He is a former public defender in the former most dangerous city in America- Camden, New Jersey. Eric is now an MFA in Fiction Candidate at Rosemont College, slightly reducing the likelihood that he’ll get stabbed. He writes a story every now and again. Maureen McVeigh graduated from Rosemont College with an MFA in May. While there, she co-edited Parlor, the program's literary journal, which she encourages everyone to submit to and to read at parlorjounal.com. She also holds an MA in English and Creative Writing from West Chester University. Her work has appeared in Student Traveler and Living Well magazines. While not attempting to write fiction, Maureen teaches at several local colleges and universities and travels as much as possible.
Jennifer Miller is currently pursuing a MFA in Fiction at Rosemont College. Her short stories have been published in Void Magazine, Pens on Fire, Thieves Jargon and Neon Magazine. Her chapbook of short fiction, Personas, was named as a “Notable Entry” in Caketrain Magazine’s 2008 Fiction Chapbook Competition.
