Poetry & Song Lyrics: From Bob Dylan To Dylan Thomas, Through Emily Dickinson And Wyclef Jean:
This course is designed for poets looking for a new source of material for their poetry. We will examine song lyrics Rock, Rap, Swing and find its correspondence in poetry. We will listen to music, including your favorites. We will also read a lot of poetry, American and International. We will focus on the basic elements and composition of poetry and lyrics. (Please note: This workshop will address words only, not music.) Assignments will be given. What do William Blake, Bruce Springsteen, Tricky, Bright Eyes, W.S. Merwin, Modest Mouse, Pink, have in common? Check us out.
Recommended for Teens and Adults and Songwriters. All Participants Will Be Invited To Read At The Green Line Café On Tuesday, June 16.
